Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale (born April 2, 1985) is an American professional basketball player. She is a player for the Dallas Wings and the Women's National Basketball Association. The team was selected with the 5th selection overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings. Arike Ogunbowale, born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on March 2 1997. She was the second child of Yolanda Ogunbowale and Gregory Ogunbowale. There are two brothers: Mario (26 year older) and Dare Ogunbowale (20 years old). As the youngest of her siblings she was the most spoilt of her parents. Gregory's father served in the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale is from a family who has connections to the sports world. Her mother Yolanda was a softball coach at DePaul, and her brother Dare used to be an athlete in football. Aunt Endia Oliver, played volleyball at Tennessee State and her niece played volleyball with UAPB. Ogunbowale's name was on the honour roll at her high school for three consecutive year. She also received recognition for her achievements in high school and received numerous awards. Arike has graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in her home town. Her academics were followed by three years playing in varsity. Ogunbowale was able to lead her team to numerous victories using her outstanding skills. She finished her high school career with 73 career starts and lists her career's totals as 1 477 and 739 rebounds. Ogunbowale was a participant at her first 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship and won Gold medals there. The USA Youth Olympic Team was announced as the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team on the 7th of July 2014. Ogunbowale was in her first collegiate seasons she was selected as the ACC All-Freshman Team. Kobe Bryant has congratulated the kid after she took several impressive shots at the NCCA Tournament. Even though she is still just a rookie Ogunbowale has already made herself a top basketball star and is sure to continue on her path.
